Week Two: Word Brainstorm

We generated this word brainstorm in class, where we then took words from each section to create a scenario/concept to then design. Here is the wordlist

Below are some rough poster ideas we came up with, with a mood board to give an indication of what it may look like when created properly:

Education, teachers/class, rubbish, protecting land, scientific:

Beach, kids, sand castles, fun, illustrative:

Saving wildlife, fisherman, sea gulls, rescue, photographic 

Responsibility, surf life savers, bonfires, a war on rubbish, two tone:

Beach aesthetics, old people, footprint in sand, returning the favour. 

From these, we then took one of the thumbnail sketches that we thought was the most successful, and rendered it digitally, as shown below.

This rendered concept is just to get an idea of layout and style, it uses placeholder text and doesn't have a call to action for the beach clean up at this stage. Basically we just want to see how this style looks aesthetically and structurally.

Feedback from class: We gained some feedback in class for this poster concept, where the following was said. 

- Henry said that he wouldn't stop and read the text

-Also that it was quite plain and non-beachy so you don't really get a fun beachy vibe

-Could be a bit to much with all the type and infographics, could look at a way of making it scientific but still bright and more eye-catching. 

-Also the grey in the bar graph is very similar to the background colour. 

We agreed with this feedback and we will not continue with this style or concept at all.
