Week Four: Booklet introduction information

Below is information we have written to go below our heading and subheading of our booklet - regarding 'what goes in the ocean goes in us'

The sea life we eat are becoming increasingly intoxicated. Human rubbish, specifically plastics in the ocean are not biodegradable - meaning over time they break down into 'microplastics' (which are thinner than a human hair) and are then consumed by sea life. This toxic sea life is consumed by us when we eat seafood. Toxins in plastics are directly linked to cancers, birth defects, immune system problems and childhood development issues. 

Add on information if we need it: 

More specifically, BPA - used in many plastics such as drink bottles and packaging is a known chemical that interferes with human hormonal function, this can enter humans when we eat fish exposed to this broken down toxins  

Another introduction idea: 

Man made waste is entering our oceans via sewage, rivers, winds and wast from commercial and leisure vessels where waste is deliberately or accidentally lost over board. Our toxic waste is being consumed by sea life as well as causing physical deformities or death when the waste intertwines with the animals body or limbs. When commercial fisherman or leisure fisherman catch sea life for us to consume, they are catching toxic sea life, deformed sea life or no sea life at all as they have died because of our waste.
